Manchester United face fresh injury concern as Leny Yoro spotted wearing knee strap

According to a report by the Evening Standard on Monday, November 2, 2026, Manchester United defender Leny Yoro has raised fresh injury concerns after being spotted wearing strapping around his knee during training ahead of Tuesday's UEFA Champions League encounter against Roma.

The French centre-back was involved in Manchester United's preparations for the visit of the Italian side at Old Trafford, but the strapping around his knee attracted attention as Michael Carrick continues to deal with several fitness problems within his squad.

Yoro has been an important option for the United manager this season, particularly because of the club's defensive difficulties and the absence of some established players.

The 19-year-old has recently been deployed at right-back to accommodate Diogo Dalot and Noussair Mazraoui, who have also been used in unfamiliar defensive positions.

He started in that role during Manchester United's 2-0 defeat against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge last weekend and completed the entire 90 minutes.

Although the defender was seen wearing knee strapping during Monday's training session, he did not appear to experience any discomfort while participating in the various exercises.

His involvement in training will offer some encouragement to Carrick, although the situation surrounding his knee will remain something to monitor ahead of the Roma fixture.

Manchester United are already dealing with several injury problems as they attempt to improve their disappointing start to the campaign.

Patrick Dorgu recently returned to first-team training after recovering from a hamstring injury sustained during international duty in September. However, Carrick has confirmed that the Denmark international will not feature against Roma.

Luke Shaw also remains unavailable because of a muscle problem, leaving the manager with limited senior options in the left-back position.

Meanwhile, United will be looking to end their nine-match winless run in all competitions when they welcome Roma to Old Trafford.

The Red Devils have suffered three consecutive defeats, including losses against Como, Bournemouth and Chelsea, increasing the pressure on Carrick.

Yoro's fitness could become particularly important for the manager as he considers his defensive options for the upcoming fixtures.

Lisandro Martinez will also be unavailable for Manchester United's next Premier League match against Aston Villa because of suspension following his dismissal against Chelsea.

The Argentine defender is, however, available for Tuesday's Champions League encounter against Roma.
