According to a report by Manchester Evening News on Wednesday October 21, 2026, Manchester United youngster Jaydan Kamason could make his senior debut against Como in the Champions League as Michael Carrick faces defensive selection problems ahead of Wednesday’s encounter.
The 19-year-old full-back has travelled to Italy with the first-team squad alongside fellow academy prospect Dan Armer, with United dealing with several injury setbacks. Seven players reportedly missed Tuesday’s training session, while Leny Yoro is unavailable due to suspension.
The defensive situation could provide Kamason with an opportunity to make his first senior appearance for the club, particularly if Carrick needs to reshuffle his backline.
United have experienced defenders, including Harry Maguire, Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui, available to fill the gaps at centre-back. However, the right-back position could become a concern depending on how Carrick deploys his senior players.
Diogo Dalot can operate on either flank, while Mazraoui could be required to play centrally. De Ligt is reportedly ready if needed after an extended spell out, although questions remain over whether he is prepared to play the full 90 minutes.
Kamason has shown promising form at Under-21 level this season, scoring twice in two Premier League 2 appearances and accumulating 180 minutes of playing time.
The young defender is known for his attacking qualities and willingness to push forward, attributes that could appeal to Carrick if he decides to give the academy graduate an opportunity.
Kamason is not the only youngster hoping to benefit from United’s injury problems, with Shea Lacey and Harry Amass also among the academy players who could receive more minutes.
United head into the Como fixture with three points from their opening two Champions League matches, having beaten FK Sabah 4-0 before suffering a 2-0 defeat to Atletico Madrid.
