Chelsea Have Spent €2.07 Billion on Transfers Under BlueCo Ownership

According to a report by FootballTransfers on Saturday, October 17, 2026, Chelsea have invested more than €2 billion in player recruitment since Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital took control of the club in 2022. The report estimates that the London side have spent approximately €2.07 billion on new players while generating around €1.37 billion through player sales, leaving their net expenditure at roughly €700 million.

The figures demonstrate the enormous financial commitment made by the BlueCo ownership group since arriving at Stamford Bridge. However, despite the substantial investment, Chelsea's spending has not consistently delivered the level of domestic success expected by supporters.

Raheem Sterling became the first major signing under the new ownership after completing a €56.2 million transfer from Manchester City in 2022. Other players recruited during the same period included Kalidou Koulibaly, Marc Cucurella, Wesley Fofana and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Chelsea significantly increased their spending during the following transfer windows. Enzo Fernandez and Mykhailo Mudryk arrived in January 2023, while Moises Caicedo, Romeo Lavia and Christopher Nkunku were among the players added later that year as the club continued rebuilding its squad.

The recruitment drive continued throughout 2024 and 2025, with Pedro Neto, Joao Felix, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Joao Pedro, Alejandro Garnacho and Jamie Gittens among the notable arrivals. These signings reflected the club's continued determination to strengthen several positions and develop a competitive squad for domestic and European football.

According to the report, Chelsea's highest spending season was 2022-23, when they committed €612.4 million to new players. Their expenditure reached €468.8 million in 2023-24 before falling to €276 million in 2024-25 and rising again to €339.1 million in 2025-26.

The club have reportedly spent another €407.5 million during the 2026-27 campaign, underlining the continued scale of their transfer activity.

Morgan Rogers is listed as Chelsea's most expensive signing under BlueCo following his reported €138 million move from Aston Villa in 2026. Fernandez ranks second after joining from Benfica for €121 million in January 2023, while Caicedo occupies third place with his €116 million transfer from Brighton.

On the sales side, Kai Havertz remains the most expensive departure under the current ownership after joining Arsenal for €75 million in 2023. Mason Mount's €64.2 million transfer to Manchester United ranks second, followed by Noni Madueke's €56 million move away from Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea's financial figures highlight the ownership group's aggressive recruitment strategy. Nevertheless, the challenge remains converting that investment into sustained success, stronger performances and major trophies.
