According to a report by BBC Sports on Monday, November 2, 2026, Chelsea continued their impressive campaign in the Women's Super League after recording a commanding 6-0 victory over Charlton Athletic. The result helped the Blues maintain their position at the top of the standings as Manchester City also secured three important points, while Arsenal were forced to settle for a draw against Aston Villa.
Chelsea produced an outstanding attacking display against Charlton, scoring four goals within the opening 19 minutes of the encounter. The Blues added two more goals in the second half to complete a convincing 6-0 triumph. Their latest victory takes them to 22 points from eight league matches, keeping them unbeaten this season.
Manchester City also strengthened their position among the leading teams after defeating London City Lionesses 2-1 away from home. Khadija Shaw opened the scoring for City before Lauren Hemp scored the decisive goal after Jana Fernandez had restored parity for the hosts. The victory means City have also accumulated 22 points from eight matches.
However, Chelsea remain above Manchester City because of their superior goal difference. The Blues currently boast a goal difference of +23, compared to City's +12.
Arsenal, meanwhile, missed the opportunity to close the gap on the leading clubs after playing out a 1-1 draw against Aston Villa. Chasity Grant gave Villa the advantage before Alessia Russo rescued a point for the Gunners with an 85th-minute equaliser.
Elsewhere, Tottenham Hotspur climbed to fourth position following their impressive 4-1 victory over Birmingham City. Brighton also claimed a 2-1 win against Crystal Palace, while West Ham United defeated Liverpool 4-1.
In the updated standings, Chelsea occupy first place with 22 points, while Manchester City are second with the same number of points. Tottenham Hotspur sit fourth, and Manchester United occupy fifth position with 12 points.
Arsenal remain seventh with 10 points despite their draw against Aston Villa. At the other end of the table, Charlton Athletic are struggling in 14th position without a single point after eight matches.
With Chelsea and Manchester City continuing to collect victories, the competition at the top of the WSL table is becoming increasingly intense. Arsenal will also need to improve their results if they hope to challenge the leading clubs as the season progresses.
