€117m Star Opens Up About a Potential Manchester United Move

According to a report by FootballTransfers on Sunday, November 1, 2026, Barcelona midfielder Fermín López has dismissed speculation linking him with a move to Manchester United, making it clear that he wants to remain at the Catalan club for the rest of his professional career.

The 23-year-old has reportedly attracted interest from Manchester United as they explore potential midfield reinforcements. Chelsea have also been linked with the Spanish international after previously attempting to secure his signature.

However, Barcelona are reportedly unwilling to entertain offers for the midfielder, while López's recent comments indicate that he has no desire to leave the club.

Speaking after Barcelona's emphatic 6-1 victory over Alavés, López was asked about Manchester United's reported interest but insisted that he was not concerned about the speculation.

"I don't pay attention to that kind of news," López said.

"I want to stay here at Barça as long as possible. I hope to end my career at this club and retire in a Barcelona shirt."

López has enjoyed an outstanding start to the season, registering six goals and six assists in 13 appearances across all competitions. His estimated market value has also risen to €116.5 million.

Although signing the midfielder appears to be an unrealistic possibility, Manchester United are expected to strengthen several areas of their squad next year. A left-back and a centre-back are reportedly among their main transfer priorities.

Newcastle United defender Lewis Hall remains high on their shortlist despite recently signing a contract extension. United have also been linked with Barcelona left-back Alejandro Balde, who has struggled to secure regular playing time this season.

In central defence, Everton's Jarrad Branthwaite continues to attract interest from Old Trafford as Manchester United prepare for Lisandro Martínez's anticipated departure in 2027.

The Red Devils could also explore the possibility of signing another striker. Club Brugge forward Nicolò Tresoldi has emerged as a potential target after scoring 13 goals in his first 15 appearances this season.
