According to a report by Barca Universal published on Monday, October 19, 2026, Ronald Araujo has spoken about the possibility of remaining at Liverpool beyond his current loan spell, revealing that he is enjoying life at the Premier League club while admitting that a final decision about his future has not yet been made.
The Uruguay international joined Liverpool from Barcelona on a season-long loan and has been working to establish himself within the squad. Speaking to reporters on Monday ahead of the Reds’ Champions League meeting with Villarreal, the defender explained that his immediate focus remains on improving his performances and making the most of his opportunity at Anfield.
When questioned about the prospect of a permanent transfer, Araujo stressed that he was satisfied with his current situation but believed it was too soon to determine where he would play next season.
“I’m trying to enjoy each day, to grow and improve. I’m very happy here and so is my family, but it’s still early,” he said, according to Mundo Deportivo.
The 27-year-old also discussed his adjustment to life at Liverpool, admitting that the club’s size and influence had exceeded his expectations. He revealed that he was learning English as he continued adapting to his new surroundings.
“I’m learning English. To be honest, it’s surprising me, because you think Liverpool is a very big club, but then you get here and you see that it’s gigantic,” Araujo explained.
The defender praised the reception he had received from the club and its supporters since arriving in England. He expressed his desire to repay their encouragement by maintaining high standards during training and delivering strong performances whenever selected.
Although Araujo naturally prefers playing as a centre-back, he has largely featured at right-back during his time with Liverpool. Virgil van Dijk and Jeremy Jacquet have occupied the central defensive positions, prompting the Uruguayan to adapt to a different role.
Despite his preference for the middle of the defence, Araujo has demonstrated his willingness to contribute wherever required. He has made ten appearances this season, recording one goal and one assist.
His performances could influence Liverpool’s decision regarding a permanent move, with reports indicating that the loan agreement includes a €55 million purchase clause.
However, it remains uncertain whether Liverpool will activate the option when the campaign concludes. For now, Araujo appears focused on continuing his development, helping the team and assessing his future when the appropriate time arrives.
