According to a report by London Evening Standard on Friday October 23, 2026, defender Piero Hincapie was seen participating in a full training session on Friday morning, which is encouraging news for Arsenal ahead of their Premier League match against Everton.
Following Arsenal's 2-1 win over Leeds earlier this month, the Ecuadorian international sustained an unusual injury during the post-match warm-down and has since been sidelined. The match against Nottingham Forest was subsequently not played because of him.
Prior to Wednesday's Champions League match against Bayern Munich, Hincapie had returned to individual training, giving Arsenal fans hope that he may make a quicker recovery than expected.
The 24-year-old could sit out for a few weeks, according to manager Mikel Arteta. The likelihood of him starting against Everton, though, has grown since he returned to group training.
"Piero, let's see," Arteta said when asked about the defender's recovery. It would be fantastic if he could train in the coming days so he can play for Everton.
Upon his return to practice on Friday, Hincapie seemed to be in high spirits, greeted by teammates and the coaching staff of Arsenal. Before starting his training, the defender passed through a tunnel of teammates, who cheered and gave him playful slaps on the head.
Jurrien Timber, meanwhile, was presented with a commemorative framed shirt upon reaching 100 appearances for the North London club.
Arsenal, on the other hand, were without Bukayo Saka, who hurt his quad in Bayern Munich and is now waiting for scan results. In the Champions League match, the winger was substituted out after only ten minutes.
After injuring his hamstring while playing for Greece during the international break, Christos Tzolis is also questionable.
Arteta could get a defensive boost from Hincapie's return for Saturday's match against Everton, though his availability will be dependent on his reaction to pre-match training.
