According to a report by Evening Standard on Thursday October 29, 2026, former Manchester United striker Carlos Tevez has named Paul Scholes as the best player he ever played alongside, placing the former England international among the finest footballers he encountered during his career.
Tevez made the revelation during an appearance on the Rio Ferdinand Presents channel, where he discussed his former team-mates with ex-Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand.
The Argentine spent two years at Old Trafford, playing alongside Cristiano Ronaldo, Wayne Rooney and Dimitar Berbatov in one of the Premier League's most feared attacking units.
During that period, Manchester United won several major honours, including back-to-back Premier League titles and the 2008 Champions League.
However, when Ferdinand asked Tevez to choose between Scholes and former Manchester City midfielder David Silva, the Argentine did not hesitate to select the former United midfielder.
"Scholes," Tevez replied. He then explained his admiration for the legendary midfielder, saying: "For me the best player. For me the best player."
Tevez also recalled Scholes's outstanding ability during training sessions, particularly his passing and technical quality.
"Do you remember at training. Like this, no speak, nothing. First ball," he said.
"All the time at training, pass, pass, pass ... For me the best. Pirlo and Scholes."
Scholes spent his entire professional playing career at Manchester United, becoming one of the club's most decorated players under former manager Sir Alex Ferguson.
Known for his vision, passing range and ability to control games from midfield, he won multiple Premier League titles and two Champions League trophies with the Red Devils.
Tevez's comments underline the lasting impression Scholes made on his former team-mates, despite sharing the dressing room with global superstars such as Ronaldo.
