Manchester City manager Enzo Maresca has provided an update on Erling Haaland after the striker appeared to be struggling with an injury following his side’s 3-2 Premier League victory over Ipswich Town.
According to a report by Football London on Sunday, 18 October 2026, Haaland was left limping after scoring twice in the match at the Etihad Stadium, raising concerns about his fitness ahead of Manchester City’s upcoming fixtures.
The Norwegian forward took his tally to 12 goals in all competitions this season, continuing his impressive form as City maintained their perfect start to the campaign. However, his discomfort after the final whistle raised questions about whether he could be sidelined.
Haaland reportedly took a blow to his foot late in the match, although Maresca remained hopeful that the problem was not serious.
"We will see. I asked him and he said he was OK, so hopefully it is nothing serious," the City manager said.
Maresca also revealed that several other players suffered knocks during the closing stages of the encounter, including Matheus Nunes, Mateo Kovacic, Antoine Semenyo and Nico O'Reilly.
“Unfortunately in 10 minutes we had four of five players – Matheus [Nunes], Kova [Mateo Kovacic], Erling, Antoine [Semenyo] and Nico [O’Reilly] also - but they are inside now and we will see."
The situation will be closely monitored by City, given Haaland's importance to their attacking threat and their pursuit of another Premier League title.
City's victory moved them six points clear of Arsenal, although they had played one match more. The Gunners have an opportunity to reduce the gap to four points if they defeat Nottingham Forest.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has insisted that his team are focused on maintaining their recent improvement as the title race develops.
"We have responded really well in the last two games, two very good performances and results, and now we just focus on the game against Forest, which I know is going to be a really tough one," Arteta said.
He also defended Arsenal's attacking approach, stressing the importance of finding different ways to score goals.
