According to a report by Daily Post on Thursday October 22, 2026, Cyriel Dessers struck twice as Panathinaikos stormed to a 5-1 victory over Kairat Almaty in the UEFA Europa Conference League on Thursday night.
The Greek club produced a dominant display at the Central Stadium, with Dessers leading the charge and further enhancing his growing influence in their European campaign.
The Super Eagles striker opened the scoring from the penalty spot six minutes before the half-hour mark, calmly sending goalkeeper Temirlan Anarbekov the wrong way.
He needed only two minutes after the restart to complete his brace. Dessers reacted sharply to an excellent delivery from Andrews Tetteh and finished decisively to extend Panathinaikos’ advantage.
The 31-year-old former Cremonese forward has now scored four goals in three Conference League group-phase appearances this season, according to Daily Post Nigeria.
His latest double underlined his importance to Panathinaikos, who moved to six points from their opening three matches with the emphatic win.
The result also gives the Greek side valuable momentum as they push for progress in the competition.
For Dessers, the performance marked another significant contribution at club level and strengthened his reputation as a key attacking threat.
Panathinaikos will now look to build on the victory in their next fixture as they aim to improve their chances of advancing further in the Conference League.
