According to a report by Barca Blaugranes on Wednesday October 21, 2026, Barcelona captain Raphinha has insisted that his side's 4-2 Champions League defeat to Paris Saint-Germain will not affect their preparations for Sunday's El Clasico against Real Madrid.
The Catalan giants suffered their first defeat of the campaign on Tuesday night after losing to the European champions at the Parc des Princes, despite goals from Xavi Espart and Lamine Yamal.
Raphinha returned to Barcelona's starting lineup for the encounter but could not prevent his team from leaving Paris empty-handed.
Speaking after the match, the Brazilian admitted that the result was disappointing but insisted that Barcelona should not panic following the setback.
“We knew it could happen. We're facing the two-time European champions at their home ground. They're very strong. Obviously, we wanted to come away with a win or at least a point, but it's not the end of the world. This happens when it has to happen. We only dropped three points,” Raphinha told Movistar.
The Barcelona captain also believes his side can take positives from the performance, despite conceding four goals against a strong PSG team.
Raphinha also provided an update on his physical condition after returning to action with limited preparation. The winger revealed that he had completed less than a week of training before starting against PSG.
“I think I've had less than a week of training and this was expected to happen. I finished the match feeling good, strong, and now I'm focused on getting in better physical shape for the Clasico. This doesn't affect the Clasico at all,” he said.
His comments will offer encouragement to Barcelona supporters ahead of Sunday's showdown with Real Madrid, with Hansi Flick's side eager to respond positively to their European disappointment.
However, Barcelona will need to address the defensive issues exposed in Paris if they are to secure a positive result against their biggest rivals.
