Championship Table After Wolves Drew 1-1

According to a report by BBC Sport on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, Wolverhampton Wanderers were forced to settle for a 1-1 draw against Portsmouth in their Championship encounter at Molineux Stadium.

Wolves entered the match hoping to claim maximum points on home soil, but Portsmouth put up a determined defensive performance to frustrate their hosts. Both teams struggled to create clear-cut scoring opportunities in the opening half, with neither side able to break the deadlock before the interval.

The visitors worked hard to limit Wolves’ attacking threat, while the home side attempted to establish control and find openings in the opposition’s defence. Despite their efforts, the first half ended goalless, leaving the contest finely balanced heading into the second period.

Wolves manager made two changes at half-time, introducing Jordan James and Tawanda Chirewa in an attempt to inject fresh energy into the attack and increase the pressure on Portsmouth.

The substitutions proved effective in the 62nd minute when James broke the deadlock for the hosts. Fer López provided the assist, setting up the midfielder to finish and give Wolves a valuable lead as they looked to secure all three points.

However, Portsmouth remained determined to avoid defeat and increased their attacking efforts as the match approached its conclusion. Their persistence eventually paid off in the 86th minute when Terry Devlin found the net to level the score and silence the home supporters.

The late equaliser put Wolves under pressure during the closing stages, as both sides searched for a decisive goal. Despite eight minutes of added time, neither team managed to find another breakthrough, and the match ended with the points shared.

The result sees Wolves move up to seventh place in the Championship standings with 18 points, while Portsmouth climb to 13th after earning a valuable away point.

Although Wolves will be disappointed to have surrendered their advantage so late in the game, Portsmouth will take encouragement from their resilience and determination to fight back at Molineux.
