Four Man Utd Stars Set to Miss Chelsea Clash With Travelling Squad Revealed

According to a report by Metro on Friday October 30, 2026, Manchester United could welcome Kobbie Mainoo back from injury against Chelsea, but Michael Carrick is expected to remain without four other players ahead of their Premier League encounter at Stamford Bridge.

Mainoo has missed United’s previous four matches because of a muscle injury, during which the team suffered three defeats and recorded one draw. His absence has weakened their midfield options during a difficult period.

The 21-year-old midfielder returned to full training on Wednesday, improving his chances of featuring against Chelsea. Carrick confirmed that Mainoo had resumed some training, describing his return to the group as positive news.

Mainoo was also pictured among the 22 Manchester United players travelling from Stockport Station to London on Friday. However, Marcus Rashford and Luke Shaw were noticeably absent from the travelling squad.

Shaw has missed United’s last four matches, having last featured in their 1-1 draw against Tottenham. His continued absence has created problems at left-back, renewing criticism of the club’s decision against signing another specialist in that position during the summer.

Rashford is also expected to miss the Chelsea encounter after struggling with a hip problem. Although he remained an unused substitute against Leeds earlier this month, he subsequently missed defeats against Como and Bournemouth, with no confirmed return date.

Patrick Dorgu remains unavailable as he continues recovering from a hamstring injury sustained during the September international break. His absence further limits Carrick’s defensive options as Manchester United prepare for another challenging Premier League fixture.

Benjamin Sesko completes United’s injury concerns, with the Slovenian striker potentially remaining sidelined until January because of a persistent shin problem. He missed pre-season before returning, but the injury resurfaced in September.

Carrick admitted that Sesko’s recovery timeline remains uncertain, explaining that the club is monitoring his rehabilitation carefully. The prolonged absence represents another significant setback for United, who will hope to regain several players soon.

Manchester United achieved an important victory at Stamford Bridge last season, with Matheus Cunha scoring a crucial goal during their push for Champions League qualification. However, Carrick must manage his available resources carefully ahead of Saturday’s encounter.
