Real Madrid confirm squad for AEK Athens clash as Guler and Tchouameni miss out

Real Madrid have confirmed their travelling squad for Wednesday’s UEFA Champions League meeting with AEK Athens, with Arda Guler and Aurelien Tchouameni among four players missing from Jose Mourinho’s selection.

According to a report by Madrid Universal on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, the Spanish giants will be without the midfield duo when they travel to Greece for their fourth league-phase fixture of the competition.

Mourinho’s team completed their final training session in Madrid on Tuesday before preparing for the trip, but several important players were unavailable.

Guler and Tchouameni were not involved in the main training session, instead completing individual programmes indoors. Despite initial hopes that they could still travel, neither midfielder was included in the squad announced by the club.

They join Rodrygo and Raul Asencio on the list of absentees, with both players continuing their recovery from injuries.

The absence of Guler and Tchouameni represents a setback for Mourinho, who will have to consider alternative options as he prepares his team for the difficult away encounter.

One of the notable inclusions in the travelling party is young midfielder Sergio Martinez, who joined Real Madrid from Racing during the summer transfer window.

The teenager has been rewarded with an opportunity to travel with the first team and gain valuable experience under Mourinho, although he is not expected to play a major role against AEK Athens.

Meanwhile, the Portuguese manager is expected to make several changes to his starting line-up as he manages his squad ahead of the demanding fixture schedule.

Denzel Dumfries and Alvaro Carreras are among the defensive players who could benefit from the expected rotation, while Antonio Rudiger is also competing for a place in the starting team.

Eduardo Camavinga could also be handed greater responsibility in midfield following the absence of Guler and Tchouameni.

Despite losing several important players, Real Madrid will be determined to maintain their positive momentum in the Champions League and secure a favourable result in Athens.

Mourinho will now have to rely on the available depth of his squad as his team prepares for Wednesday’s encounter against AEK Athens.
