Villarreal forward Georges Mikautadze says he feels ready to make the next move in his career, amid reported interest from Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United.
A Metro report published on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, says the Georgia international believes he has the ability to join a bigger club after establishing himself in Spain.
The 26-year-old has had a varied career. He began professionally at Metz, moved to Ajax, then returned to Metz after his time in the Netherlands failed to meet expectations. He joined Lyon in 2024 and transferred to Villarreal the following year.
Mikautadze made a strong start in Spain, scoring 15 goals in all competitions during his first season. He has added five goals so far this campaign, including Villarreal’s opening goal in their 4–3 Champions League loss to Liverpool at Anfield on October 20.
His form has reportedly drawn interest from several European clubs. Tottenham and Newcastle have previously been linked with him, while Barcelona are also said to be keeping an eye on his situation.
“I think I’m ready to join a big club. I have everything I need, and I try to show that every time. Maybe I just need a little more time,” he told L’Équipe.
He also responded to reports of Barcelona’s interest, saying the attention was flattering and encouraging. “It motivates me even more. It also shows that the work is being done well,” he said.
Mikautadze added that he grew up supporting Barcelona, particularly during the era of Xavi, Andrés Iniesta and Sergio Busquets, alongside Lionel Messi, Luis Suárez and Neymar.
“I’ve supported Barça since I was a child, from the Xavi-Iniesta-Busquets era and the MSN trio. But I hadn’t really thought about it,” he said.
His comments may intensify speculation linking him with Tottenham and Newcastle as they consider options to strengthen their attacks. Barcelona’s reported interest, combined with Mikautadze’s ambition to join an elite club, could make his future a notable transfer story ahead of 2027.
