According to a report by Barca Universal on Friday October 23, 2026, Barcelona have welcomed four young prospects to first-team training ahead of Sunday’s El Clasico against Real Madrid, as Hansi Flick continues preparing his squad despite several injury concerns.
Hamza Abdelkarim, Alex Campos, Orian Goren and Ebrima Tunkara participated in Friday’s session following the team’s return from Paris.
Jules Kounde was notably absent as he continues recovering from an ankle injury. The French defender is now expected to miss the clash alongside Eric Garcia, Dani Olmo, Andreas Christensen and Roony Bardghji.
According to reports, Abdelkarim joined the academy trio as Barcelona worked towards the important encounter at Spotify Camp Nou. The youngster has regularly trained with the senior squad this season. However, his limited playing time saw him feature for Barca Atletic last weekend before returning for the Champions League meeting with Paris Saint-Germain.
Campos also remains involved with the first team after receiving his maiden senior call-up for the trip to Paris. The young defender has continued training under Flick amid Barcelona’s defensive injury problems.
Meanwhile, Olmo’s absence has encouraged Flick to assess Goren and Tunkara as possible midfield alternatives for the coming fixtures.
Flick’s biggest concern remains the growing list of unavailable players. Kounde is still working towards recovering in time for Sunday, although his participation remains doubtful.
Gerard Martin has only recently overcome discomfort, while Rodri was not fully fit to start against PSG. Frenkie de Jong also returned from injury last week but has yet to feature since his comeback.
Despite these setbacks, Barcelona have reasons to approach the encounter confidently. They currently hold a six-point advantage over Real Madrid in La Liga and have won every league match this season.
Furthermore, the Catalan side have enjoyed considerable success in recent Clasico meetings. Flick will hope his available players can maintain that momentum and deliver another positive result against their biggest rivals on Sunday.
