Eritrea elect to play in Cairo again

Eritrea will again play their Africa Cup of Nations home qualifier in Egypt, with their match against Guinea next month scheduled for the Al Salam Stadium in Cairo.

The Group D fixture will be hosted on 16 November at the same venue where Eritrea took on South Africa last month and lost 5–0.

Eritrea have to play their home ties in the Cup of Nations qualifiers away from their country because they do not have a venue that is up to international standard.

It was thought they might move their next home match away from Cairo to another neutral venue after the thumping they received from South Africa, but they are sticking with the same stadium for what will be their fourth fixture in the group.

The Eritreans opened their group campaign with an away draw at Kenya last month before the loss to South Africa. They now play Guinea away in Conakry on 12 November and then in Cairo four days later.

The Red Sea state will conclude their Group D fixtures home to Kenya and away to South Africa in March.

Bafana Bafana lead the group standings after the first two rounds of fixtures.
