Debibi United secure survival boost after edging Gold Stars

Debibi United secured a crucial 1-0 victory over Bibiani Gold Stars at the Debibi Presby Park on Sunday to climb out of the Ghana Premier League relegation zone.

Maxwell Agyemang scored the decisive goal shortly before halftime, ending Debibi United’s three-match winless run and handing the league newcomers a valuable three points on home soil.

The Oziii Ozaaa boys showed great determination after the break, defending their narrow advantage to secure their second victory of the campaign and move level on seven points with Gold Stars.

Gold Stars entered the fixture hoping to build on their impressive 2-0 win over Basake Holy Stars last weekend, but they struggled to break down a resilient Debibi United side that fought hard for the result.

The defeat denied the Miners an opportunity to record consecutive league victories and highlighted their continued struggles away from home.

For Debibi United, the victory provides a major boost as they continue their fight to establish themselves in the top flight. They will now turn their attention to their next match away against Bechem United.

Gold Stars, meanwhile, will look to recover from the setback when they host Heart of Lions in their next Ghana Premier League encounter.
