Arsenal have reportedly made Bournemouth forward Eli Junior Kroupi their leading striker target despite Kai Havertz reaching a remarkable milestone.
Havertz scored Arsenal’s winner against Liverpool at Anfield, securing their first Premier League victory there since 2012 on Sunday afternoon.
The goal took Havertz to 46 Premier League strikes, surpassing Ilkay Gundogan as the competition’s highest-scoring German player in history.
Manager Mikel Arteta already has Havertz and Viktor Gyokeres available, yet Arsenal remain interested in strengthening their attacking options further.
The Gunners missed out on Julian Alvarez during the summer and could revisit the transfer market when January’s window opens.
According to Football Insider, Bournemouth’s Kroupi has emerged as Arsenal’s preferred option, although Paris Saint-Germain are also monitoring his situation.
Bournemouth reportedly have no intention of selling the 20-year-old, potentially complicating Arsenal’s pursuit of a forward valued at £80 million.
Kroupi scored 13 goals in 33 league appearances last season, demonstrating the finishing ability that has attracted major European clubs.
The French youngster recently returned from a foot injury and assisted a goal during Bournemouth’s 2-0 victory against Leeds United, reports Football Fancast.
Former Arsenal striker Thierry Henry previously praised Kroupi’s instincts, describing him as “very Jermain Defoe-like when he’s in the box.”
Henry also highlighted the youngster’s versatility across attacking positions and predicted a promising future for the highly regarded French forward.
Arteta has praised Havertz’s intelligence, making any prospective signing’s route into Arsenal’s starting lineup an especially challenging prospect this season.
