Abia Warriors head coach Imama Amapakabo has acknowledged that his team must learn from their first home defeat of the 2026/27 Nigeria Premier Football League season.

Amapakabo made the admission after Niger Tornadoes secured a victory over the Umuahia-based side, praising their opponents for their determination and resilience.

“I think Tornadoes showed character and resilience to come here and produce such a great performance, and it is a big lesson for us,” he said.

The result gotten through a 56^th  minute strike off Wasiu Jimoh ended Abia Warriors’ unbeaten home run in the league and provided a setback for Amapakabo’s men as the season progressed.

The coach’s reaction suggested that his side would need to assess their performance and address the shortcomings exposed by Niger Tornadoes.

For Tornadoes, the result represented a valuable away performance, with their resilience earning them an important result against an Abia Warriors side playing on home soil.
