Manchester United maintained their perfect record in the Players Cup with a commanding 5-3 victory at Liverpool.

Cornelia Kapocs scored a hat-trick for the hosts as they threatened a late comeback, but the damage was already done at St Helens Stadium.

Lea Schuller poked in United's opener after 11 minutes before 19-year-old Wales international Mared Griffiths added two goals in quick succession just before the break.

A sublime solo goal by Monica Jusu Bah to make it 4-0 was the pick of the bunch, with the Swedish summer signing rifling into the top right corner of the net after running from the halfway line.

Kapocs pulled one back for Liverpool in the 76th minute but United replied immediately with a fine finish by captain Maya Le Tissier, and two more by Kapocs in the final 10 minutes did little to save Gareth Taylor's side.

United have won all three of their matches in the Players Cup - formerly known as the Women's League Cup - by an aggregate score of 20-5 this season.

Eva Olid's side sit top of the table thanks to a better goal difference than Aston Villa and London City Lionesses, who also maintained their 100% win record in the competition on Wednesday with wins against Burnley and West Ham respectively.
