Sundowns Ladies learn their fate in CAF Women’s Champions League

The tournament will take place in Egypt from 1 to 15 November, with eight teams set to battle for continental honours.

Sundowns Ladies will face FC Masar on 1 November in a highly anticipated Group A clash.

Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies have discovered their group-stage opponents for the 2026 CAF Women’s Champions League following the draw held in Cairo earlier this week.

The tournament will take place in Egypt from 1 to 15 November, with eight teams set to battle for continental honours.

The draw, conducted with Burkina Faso international Stéphanie Zida serving as draw assistant, has set up an intriguing opening encounter between Egyptian hosts FC Masar and South African giants Sundowns, while defending champions AS FAR of Morocco will begin their title defence against Uganda’s Kawempe Muslim Ladies.

Sundowns will face FC Masar on 1 November in a highly anticipated Group A clash, renewing their rivalry from the 2024 edition, when the Egyptian side secured a 1-0 victory over the South African outfit.

Playing on home soil, FC Masar will be hoping to repeat that result, while Sundowns will be eager to make a strong start as they pursue another continental crown.

The two sides have been drawn alongside Morocco’s FUS Rabat and Cameroon’s Lekié Football Filles in Group A, with all four teams targeting one of the two available semi-final places.

In Group B, defending champions AS FAR will open their campaign against Kawempe Muslim Ladies on 2 November as they look to retain their title.

The Moroccan outfit will be aiming to build on its continental success, but faces competition from Uganda’s Kawempe Muslim Ladies, Mali’s USFAS Bamako and a representative from the WAFU Zone B, whose identity is yet to be confirmed.

Kawempe Muslim Ladies will be looking to make an immediate impression against the reigning champions, while USFAS Bamako will also be targeting progression to the knockout stage.

The tournament brings together established continental contenders and emerging clubs from across Africa, highlighting the continued growth of women’s football on the continent.

The eight teams will compete in two groups of four, with the top two teams in each group advancing to the semi-finals on 11 November.

The winners of the semi-final matches will meet in the final on 15 November, when Africa’s premier women’s club title will be decided.
