Dana White had little to say when asked about the recent UFC 336 reports.
Last month, the main event of UFC 332 was forced into some changes after the promotion’s original plan didn’t come together.
It was reported earlier today that the first numbered event of 2027 is now in a similar position due to Islam Makhachev no longer being able to headline UFC 336.
Fight day in Abu Dhabi being just around the corner means that White was asked to share his initial reaction to these updates.
The premier promotion announced they are returning to Toronto for UFC 336!
Islam Makhachev’s reported UFC 336 return wasn’t close to being finalized according to his manager but it has been said that his next title defense was this event’s planned main event.
It has been said by the likes of Ag. Fight and Ariel Helwani that the champion is no longer able to face Carlos Prates on January 30, meaning the promotion will need to look at other options.
The UFC president has been in attendance for fight week in Abu Dhabi, leading to an awkward press conference exchange between Dana White and Alexander Volkov.
White then joined Nina Drama for her live Kick stream during the Power Slap event that took place on Friday night.
At one point in the stream, Nina brought up the recent reports about Makhachev’s return no longer being planned for UFC 336.
“For 336, they were saying maybe Islam vs Carlos… But then they said but Islam is out,” she said. “Is the internet telling the truth or is it all cap?”
“Ah. Interesting,” White replied while smiling. “Interesting.”
White then quickly changed the subject by asking about an object that was on their table.
It’s not surprising that the promotion’s boss didn’t give any extra information or context at this time due to nothing being announced for the card.
With the UFC 333 post-fight press conference taking place tomorrow, it seems likely that this topic will be brought back up, though a more definitive answer being given seems unlikely.
It has not been reported at this time why Makhachev is no longer able to compete on this date after originally pushing to fight again before Ramadan starts in February.
