TP Mazembe host Club Africain in CAF Champions League second-round tie

TP Mazembe will host Club Africain on Saturday, 17 October 2026 in the first leg of their CAF Champions League second preliminary-round tie.

The match will kick off at 13:00 GMT at Stade TP Mazembe in Lubumbashi. It will be broadcast on beIN CONNECT MENA HD, beIN Sports MENA 1 HD, SuperSport Variety 4 HD, Azam Sports Channel and Canal + Sport Afrique.

The two clubs have met only twice in official continental competition, but those encounters produced a clear advantage for TP Mazembe. The Congolese side remain unbeaten, recording one win and one draw against Club Africain.

TP Mazembe have also dominated the scoring record between the teams, finding the net eight times without conceding. Club Africain have yet to beat the Lubumbashi club or score against them in those two matches.

Different routes through the first round

TP Mazembe reached the second preliminary round with a perfect record against Medeama SC of Ghana. They won the first leg 1-0 away from home before completing the job with a 3-1 victory in Lubumbashi.

Club Africain faced a more demanding route against Mali’s Djoliba AC. The Tunisian side secured a 1-0 victory in the first leg in Tunis, but had to withstand a strong response in the return match in Bamako. A 2-2 draw was enough to send Club Africain through.

The contrasting results have made TP Mazembe the widely favoured side for the opening match. Their home record, support in Lubumbashi and controlled first-round performance against Medeama are viewed as significant advantages.

Club Africain’s difficulty away from home in Bamako, combined with TP Mazembe’s greater attacking strength and superior head-to-head record, has led to expectations of a convincing home win. The prediction is that TP Mazembe could establish a lead of at least two goals before the second leg.

Africafoot’s listed prediction is a 3-1 draw.

The published betting odds from 1xbet put a TP Mazembe victory at 1.85, a draw at 3.00 and a Club Africain win at 3.50.
