Super Falcons forward Gift Monday has sent an emotional farewell message to Washington Spirit following her permanent transfer to fellow National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) club Boston Legacy, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
Monday completed the move earlier this month, with reports indicating that Boston Legacy paid €500,000 to secure the Nigerian striker’s services.
The 24-year-old took to Instagram to reflect on her time with Washington Spirit, expressing gratitude for the memories and relationships she built during her spell with the American club.
“Saying goodbye is never easy, especially when the memories mean so much. I’m leaving with a grateful heart, beautiful memories, and a little sadness that words cannot explain,” Monday wrote on Instagram.
“Thank you for being part of my journey. Though we may be going our separate ways, you will always have a special place in my heart. All the best, fam. Take care and never forget me.”
Monday joined Washington Spirit from Spanish side UD Tenerife in 2025 and quickly established herself as an important attacking option in the NWSL.
During her time with the club, the Nigerian forward scored 12 goals and provided three assists in 48 regular-season appearances.
She also made league history by recording the fastest hat-trick in NWSL history, scoring three times in just 35 minutes and 52 seconds against the Houston Dash.
Her departure brings an end to her spell with Washington Spirit as she prepares for a new chapter with Boston Legacy.
