The Fourth “Seeking Jianghan” Urban Basketball Challenge concluded on October 25 after a two-day tournament staged at the Jianghan Road Metro Exit C Plaza in Wuhan’s Jianghan District, bringing 32 teams to the century-old pedestrian street.
Thirty-two teams competed across two days of pool play and elimination brackets, utilizing a 21-point knockout format paired with a 24-second shot clock. The tournament featured a mix of veteran streetball squads and newly formed local teams playing through tight defensive sequences and fast-paced transitions. In the tournament final, the Wuhan Banma team captured the championship title, while squad member Xu Chen received the Most Valuable Player award for his performance across the weekend.
The event was hosted by the Hualou Shuitai Street Working Committee, the Jianghan District Bureau of Commerce, the Jianghan District Bureau of Culture and Tourism, the Jianghan Road Pedestrian Street Comprehensive Service Center, and Wuhan Sanheng Investment Holding Group Co., Ltd. The Wuhan Jianghan Road Pedestrian Street Investment and Development Co., Ltd. handled tournament operations, with backing from the Shuitai Street Chamber of Commerce under Jianghan District and Wuhan Zhongke Yunzhi Technology Co., Ltd.
Alongside the basketball competition, local enterprise Wuhan Zhongke Yunzhi Technology Co., Ltd. deployed autonomous service robots to perform choreographed routines to pop tracks. Spectators also accessed on-site activation zones featuring vertical jump testers, wingspan measurements, and open-access shooting stalls positioned along the pedestrian thoroughfare.
State-level and Grade-1 certified officials managed refereeing duties throughout the tournament to maintain competition standards. Medical staff maintained a continuous station near the court perimeter during all matches, while public address announcers and cheer squads managed crowd engagement across the knockout rounds and an intervening three-point shooting contest.
