Alisson Becker has been snubbed once again by Carlo Ancelotti for the latest Brazil international squad, as the manager has opted for different players over the Liverpool goalkeeper.
The 34-year-old has been a regular feature within the Selecao since his first call-up in 2015, often rotating the starting position with former Manchester City shot-stopper Ederson through the years.
In more recent times, Alisson has emerged as the favorite with the gloves, becoming the undisputed number one for Brazil's recent World Cup campaign in the summer.
The Liverpool ace played every minute of the tournament, keeping two clean sheets in five games before the eventual disappointing exit to Norway in the round of 16, potentially ending the goalkeeper's hopes of landing the famous World Cup trophy.
That wouldn't have stopped Alisson from believing that he could still be the number one, with the 2028 Copa America now coming into view for nations in South America.
However, the experienced goalkeeper was a surprise omission from the first post-World Cup squad that spanned across September and October, coming as a chance for him to get some rest for the first time in a while during the international break.
While he has still been performing well for Liverpool, clearly Alisson's latest performances were still not enough to convince Ancelotti to change his mind, as he was missing once again from the latest Brazil squad that was announced for the November international break.
It means the shot-stopper will miss out on matches with Japan and Singapore, both of which are friendlies. There may be some solace taken in the fact that the coach may wish to look at other options, with Bento, Lucas Perri, and Pedro Morisco all called up in his place.
However, it leaves Alisson in limbo, with uncertainty surrounding whether he will be drafted back in when the competitive fixtures are underway for Brazil once again.
As it stands, his current record sits at 83 appearances for the national team, with just 40 goals conceded and 46 clean sheets to his name, making for quite the record to uphold.
Alisson may be hoping to extend that further, should he get the call in the future, but for now, he will be spending a few more weeks. on the sidelines and waiting for he could feature for Brazil.
While it remains to be seen what the goalkeeper himself thinks of the decision, Liverpool may view it as a boost, given the recent injury troubles stemming from key stars featuring for their countries on international duty.
Having made himself the clear favorite under Iraola, Liverpool will want the goalkeeper to continue his form regardless of the situation surrounding the Brazil squad.
