Orlando Pirates will lock horns with Kaizer Chiefs in the first Soweto Derby of the season, with both sides having plenty to play for at FNB Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The Buccaneers will be aiming to secure three points and move to the top of the Betway Premiership standings, while Amakhosi will be desperate to end their winless run against their arch-rivals.

With bragging rights and valuable league points at stake, Pirates coach Abdeslam Ouaddou will be looking to select a strong starting XI capable of overcoming their Soweto rivals.

Sipho Chaine is expected to start between the posts for the Buccaneers. The Orlando Pirates goalkeeper will be tasked with keeping Chiefs’ attackers at bay in what promises to be a high-pressure encounter.

In central defence, Nkosinathi Sibisi could partner Lebone Seema. The pair will need to remain organised and disciplined to contain Amakhosi’s attacking threat.

Thalente Mbatha could anchor the midfield alongside Thapelo Mokobodi and Simphiwe Masilela. The trio will be expected to provide balance, win possession and help Pirates control the tempo of the game.

Their ability to dictate play and supply the attackers could prove crucial as the Buccaneers look to dominate their rivals.

Orlando Pirates forwards need to be clinical against Chiefs

Tshepang Moremi could provide width on the wing, using his pace and attacking ability to trouble the Chiefs defence.

Evidence Makgopa is tipped to lead the line as the lone striker. The forward will be expected to make the most of the chances created by Pirates’ midfield and wide players.

With the Soweto Derby often decided by fine margins, the Buccaneers will need their key players to deliver if they are to claim victory and strengthen their push for the Betway Premiership title.

Orlando Pirates predicted lineup against Chiefs: Sipho Chaine, Bulelani Sigomoshe, Lebone Seema, Nkosinathi Sibisi, Deon Hotto, Thalente Mbatha, Thapelo Mokobodi, Simphiwe Masilela, Tshepang Moremi, Kabelo Kgositsile and Evidence Makgopa
