Oklahoma City Thunder make 2 more roster moves ahead of 2026-27 Opening Night.

The Oklahoma City Thunder continue to wheel and deal. Even with the NBA preseason over, they're spending the final days before Opening Night running some G League errands. To acquire them for the OKC Blue, they've spent the last couple of days signing and subsequently waiving players.

It happened again on Saturday morning. A day after adding him, the Thunder have waived Dariq Whitehead. They then signed Buddy Boeheim to his Exhibit-10 deal spot. He'll likely get waived too, soon. This is purely a logistical move to acquire their G League rights for the 2026-27 regular season.

Whitehead is a 2023 first-round pick. He's spent time with the Brooklyn Nets and Memphis Grizzlies over the last three seasons. Injuries have derailed his basketball ambitions. But it looks like he's ready to play a second year with the G League's Blue.

Same with Boeheim. The Thunder are quite familiar with him. He was briefly on a two-way deal in OKC last season. He was also on a two-way deal with the Detroit Pistons from 2023-24. But he has mostly been with the Blue for the last two seasons. The outside shooter is likely playing a third year there.

Even though these are pretty basic roster moves with zero NBA implications, I'm interested to see what the Thunder do with Otega Oweh. He sustained a season-ending torn Achilles tendon in preseason. Surely, he won't occupy a two-way spot all year knowing that he won't suit up. If it opens up, OKC will have to either add someone from their G League roster or look elsewhere.
