YMCA Comprehensive Institute open their 2026/27 Pepsi University Football League campaign against Seeta University in Buwambo on Tuesday, October 27, hoping to build on last season’s run to the final and claim their maiden title.
YMCA Comprehensive Institute begin their 2026/27 Pepsi University Football League (UFL) campaign against Seeta University on Tuesday, October 27, determined to turn last season’s disappointment into a first league title.
The Chartered Boys came agonisingly close to lifting their maiden trophy last season but lost 1-0 to Muteesa I Royal University in the final at Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo. Sam Mutambo scored the decisive goal in the 28th minute to deny YMCA their first championship.
Their run to the final was one of the highlights of the previous campaign. YMCA eliminated Kumi University in the quarter-finals before overcoming Kampala University 6-5 on penalties in the semi-finals to secure their place in the title decider.
Having gained valuable experience from last season’s run, YMCA will look to make a strong start against Seeta University in Buwambo. The opening fixture offers them an opportunity to lay down an early marker as they begin another attempt to win the competition.
Seeta, however, will be keen to frustrate the hosts and start their own campaign positively, making the encounter an early test of YMCA’s ambitions.
The 2026/27 season features 31 universities competing for the title, with teams required to negotiate the group stage before progressing to the knockout rounds. A consistent run of results will be essential for YMCA if they are to build on last season’s achievement and go a step further.
For the Chartered Boys, the immediate task is to secure a positive result against Seeta and establish the momentum needed for a sustained title challenge.
After coming within a goal of lifting the trophy last season, YMCA will be eager to turn their experience into success and finally secure their maiden University Football League crown.
