Partners of Manchester United stars have been compelled to forgo a planned night out following Lisandro Martinez’s remarks regarding club management.
The stylish group was excited about dining at an Italian restaurant on Thursday night.
However, they have been placed “on lockdown” to mitigate any backlash after the Argentinian defender criticized player recruitment earlier this week.
This led to the postponement of their evening at Cibo in Hale, Greater Manchester.
A source revealed: “The women were eagerly anticipating a nice dinner together, and an entire level of the restaurant had been reserved.
“However, they had to cancel it at the last moment after the club decided to close ranks following Martinez’s comments.

“Everyone was instructed to keep a low profile with hopes that the situation would resolve itself.
“The Wags are quite protective of their partners, and some are not pleased by his comments, believing he implied that some teammates aren’t up to par.”
Numerous players were also planning to go out at Cibo, a favorite of former United manager Sir Alex Ferguson, but they too canceled their reservations.
Martinez’s elegant partner and former carnival queen, Muri Lopez, was expected to attend alongside Harry Maguire’s wife, Fern Hawkins, and Ana Pinho, who is married to captain Bruno Fernandes.
Others who had reserved a place included Marcus Rashford’s girlfriend, Lucia Loi, and Luke Shaw’s long-term partner, Anouska Santos.
The source continued: “Some of the girls naturally form bonds due to their South American or European backgrounds, while the English players’ partners also share a close connection.
“Typically, they all get along well and make an effort to meet a few times each year.
“However, this week it was decided that being seen out during a club crisis wouldn’t be advisable for the players or their partners.”
Martinez criticized the club’s director of football for inadequate squad improvements following United’s 2-0 Champions League loss to Atletico Madrid on Tuesday.
He issued an apology two days later and is expected to participate in the squad against Leeds United in the Premier League tomorrow.
