Lisandro Martinez Set for Free Transfer to Barcelona as Departure from Man Utd Looms This Summer

Martinez criticized the United board last week

Martinez publicly voiced his dissatisfaction with the club’s management last week, asserting that they did not fully utilize the transfer window following a third-place finish in the Premier League last season.

After having discussions with club officials, he apologized for his comments, but indications are that he is likely to depart.

If he does not sign a contract extension, the defender will be available as a free agent when the season concludes.

According to Spanish outlet El Desmarque, Barcelona may pursue his signature.

The LaLiga side is reportedly contemplating a deal before the year ends, prior to United potentially activating a 12-month extension clause in his contract.

Furthermore, Barcelona could also negotiate a pre-contract agreement with Martinez starting in January.

Given the club’s financial situation, Barca executives would be extremely pleased to add a player of the Argentine international’s quality without a transfer fee.

However, if his contract extension is executed, it will come at a price.
