Scottland FC booted out of CAF Champions League

SCOTTLAND FC has been eliminated from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Champions League following a 3-0 defeat to Petro de Luanda at the 11 November Stadium.

Mabvirawira went into the match with a 2-0 lead from the first leg, which they secured at the National Sports Stadium.

Scottland went into the break trailing 1-0 before conceding two more goals in the second half to lose the match 3-0 on the night and 3-2 on aggregate.

Petro de Luanda overturned the deficit under new coach Alex Santos, who was appointed on Wednesday.

Scottland FC’s elimination means they join a list of local teams that have failed to progress to the group stages in recent years.

Since the CAF Champions League era, only Dynamos, CAPS United, Monomotapa and FC Platinum have qualified for the group stages.
