Emotional Elliot Anderson Shares That He Was ‘Still Celebrating With Mum at the Etihad’ Seven Months After His Last Goal There

ELLIOT ANDERSON delivered a heartfelt tribute to his mother after scoring during Manchester City’s impressive 5-1 victory against AEK Athens on Tuesday.

The Sky Blues secured a decisive win over the Greek team as they aimed to revive their Champions League aspirations.

It was a remarkable evening for Anderson, 23, as he netted his first goal for City.

In celebration, he looked skyward and formed a heart shape with his hands after scoring in the 12th minute.

This was the identical celebration to one he performed when he scored against his present club for Nottingham Forest back in March.

The former Newcastle star took to social media to express that he was honorably remembering his mother.

Helen Anderson sadly passed away in April after a courageous battle with cancer.

Following her passing, City’s record signing shared two poignant messages on Instagram Stories.

Accompanying a picture of him celebrating his goal for Forest in the 2-2 match against the Sky Blues seven months earlier, Anderson wrote: “Celebrating with mum at Etihad.”

He later shared a photo of himself making the same gesture this week, captioned: “Still celebrating with mum at the Etihad.”

City made headlines when they secured Anderson as their record signing in a £116million deal in July.

Sky Blues coach Enzo Maresca has quickly made Anderson one of his go-to players.

This season, he has already featured 11 times and provided an assist in the notable win over Liverpool earlier this month.

Anderson emotionally honored his mother on social media following her death.

His Instagram post expressed: “Mum, you are the most special person I could have ever met.

“You brought such joy and happiness into our lives with your laughter, smiles, and dancing every day.

“You fought bravely for the past year with tremendous strength and resilience.

“Your determination filled me with unbelievable pride. I am eternally thankful for everything you did for our family.

“You provided your sons with the most wonderful life, and we were prepared to repay that. Making you proud was all we ever wanted. I know you are watching over us.

“We are together. You are my biggest inspiration. Rest in peace, mum. Love you dearly.”
