Troy Parrott is being heavily linked with a return to the Premier League with Tottenham or Man United, despite only leaving AZ Alkmaar for Real Betis in the summer transfer window.

Parrott has made an impressive start to life in Spain, with the striker starting to demonstrate that Tottenham may have been too quick to get rid of him a little over two years ago.

Some Spurs supporters have called on the club to bring the Irishman back, especially given Dominic Solanke and Omar Marmoush’s struggles leading the line this season.

Betis have already dismissed the idea of Parrott returning to Tottenham, but the rumours are not going away, with the 24-year-old also reportedly attracting interest from another Premier League giant.

Troy Parrott will not join Tottenham or Man Utd in the summer

Over recent days, reports have indicated that Man United are also tracking Parrott’s progress closely as they look to add a number nine to their squad in January.

Spanish journalist Christian Vaquero has now asserted that there is little truth to the rumours linking the striker to either Spurs or United.

He asserted that Betis will not sell Parrott in January and backed up what other sources have reported by stating that the player’s release clause stands at €100m (£84.3m).

However, the journalist did not rule out the possibility of Premier League clubs coming in for the Spurs academy graduate next summer.

Vaquero wrote on X: “There’s nothing about Troy Parrott and Manchester United/Tottenham ahead of the winter transfer window, despite the rumours. Real Betis WILL NOT sell him in January and English clubs could indeed show interest ahead of summer 2027. Troy Parrott has a €100 million release clause.”

Spurs are also tracking another former academy striker

Parrott is not the only former academy striker Tottenham may regret selling, with Will Lankshear thriving at Middlesbrough since his summer switch from North London.

According to a recent update from TEAMtalk, while Spurs do not have a buy-back clause for Lankshear, they do have a matching rights option.

That means that the Lilywhites will have the opportunity to match any accepted offer for the 21-year-old in the future.

The same report claimed that Tottenham are keeping a close eye on the striker’s progress at the Riverside Stadium, with De Zerbi’s men aware of the potential they let go in the summer.
