Back
SWANSEA are hoping for a remarkable return to the Premier League, but their former ground is now unrecognizable.
The Welsh team is leading the Championship despite a 1-0 loss to fellow promotion contenders West Ham on Saturday.
The Swans set a new attendance record at the Swansea.com Stadium with 20,973 fans attending the match against the Hammers, who were relegated from the top tier on the final day of the last season.
However, the cherished Vetch Field, which they departed in May 2005, has undergone a significant transformation.
Some areas of the derelict stadium have remained preserved for over two decades, including the original center circle and players’ tunnel.
Moreover, portions of the land where Vetch Field once stood have been transformed into allotments after the stadium’s demolition.

This new community garden allows Swansea fans to cultivate vegetables where they previously witnessed club legends leading their team to victory.
The initiative to create a community garden came after original plans for four blocks of flats were abandoned.
Vetch Field held its last match when Swansea triumphed over Welsh rivals Wrexham in the FAW Premier Cup final, winning 2-1.
The Swans also recorded their highest attendance at the stadium, with over 30,000 fans present during an FA Cup loss to Arsenal in February 1968.

During their time at Vetch Field, Swansea experienced various promotions and relegations, competing across all four tiers of English football.
In July 2005, they moved from their first stadium to the Swansea.com Stadium, kicking off with a pre-season friendly against Fulham.
Renamed from Liberty Stadium, it was the first ground in Wales to host a Premier League match.
The Swans, now partially owned by American rapper Snoop Dogg, secured their place in the top division after defeating Reading in the 2011 Championship play-off final.
Now, the Swans are eager that their impressive form early in the season will propel them out of the second tier.
The close defeat to West Ham, due to Divine Mukasa’s first-half goal, was just their second loss in the Championship this season.
