KAI ROONEY’s first appearance for the Manchester United U21s ended in disappointment.
The son of club icon Wayne was brought on as a substitute during the Premier League 2 match against Nottingham Forest.
Kai, aged 16, was substituted onto the field in the 77th minute with the young Red Devils tied with the Tricky Trees.
The young player would have been eager to make an impact and celebrate his debut with a winning strike.
Unfortunately, the game did not end well, as United fell 3-2 with Shakur Samuels scoring the pivotal goal for Forest.
Prior to the match, Kai expressed his enthusiasm for the chance on Instagram.

This opportunity for Kai follows his debut for the club’s U19s against Atletico Madrid in the Uefa Youth League.
That match also resulted in a loss for United, with the Spanish side netting three goals.
Kai has advanced through the ranks at United after playing for the Under-16s last season.

In July, he was awarded a scholarship with the Red Devils – a comprehensive two-year apprenticeship agreement with the academy.
SunSport reported in February that this would transition into a three-year professional contract, valued at around £50,000 per year, along with an annual signing bonus.
Kai is part of a promising group of young talent at United, which also includes Jacey Carrick – the son of current first-team manager Michael.
Wayne Rooney, now 40, made his Premier League debut at 16, having shown potential at Everton back in 2002.
Two years later, he joined United for £30 million and marked his first match with a hat-trick in the Champions League.
He went on to make 559 appearances for the club across all competitions, scoring a record 253 goals.
