The number of USMNT players regularly getting minutes in the Premier League these days isn't quite as high as most fans would like. That being said, some of the most important players on Mauricio Pochettino's squad are playing regularly in England's top division. Match day 7 was one of mixed performances for the Americans, but overall, it was a positive weekend for USMNT players.
Chris Richards, Crystal Palace
The rough times continue for Richards and Crystal Palace, as the Eagles were absolutely humiliated 5-0 by Brighton. The Seagulls had three goals within the first 10 minutes and were on cruise control from there. Naturally, Richards didn’t have a positive grade, although he did have a game-high 13 defensive contributions and won five of his six duels. Of course, Richards shares in the blame, but he is far from Palace’s biggest problem defensively right now.
Antonee Robinson, Fulham
Robinson helped Fulham to a much-needed win on Saturday, as the Cottagers entered the weekend dead last in the Premier League. While he wasn’t involved in Fulham’s goal in the 1-0 win, Robinson did get to show off his speed on the left flank a few times. He completed 42 of his 49 passes and had seven defensive contributions to help Fulham keep the clean sheet.
Tyler Adams, Bournemouth
This was a vintage performance by Adams. After playing 69 minutes in Bournemouth’s Europa League win on Thursday, Adams played 89 minutes against Sunderland on Sunday, showcasing his relentless work rate. The USMNT captain had 11 defensive contributions, which one would expect. But he also had eight line-breaking passes, going eight for eight on long balls. That’s a side of Adams that has quietly improved, and it was on display during Bournemouth’s 2-0 win over Sunderland.
Brenden Aaronson, Leeds United
Aaron’s playing time continues to wane, as he was an unused sub on Sunday when Leeds played Manchester United to a 1-1 draw. After beginning the season in the starting lineup, Aaronson has played less than 60 minutes over Leeds’ last four games. With each passing week, it’s becoming harder to imagine Aaronson playing his way onto the November roster if he doesn’t start to get more minutes soon.
