Pirates and Chiefs Return to Africa With Different TV Coverage Options

Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs are preparing for their return to CAF inter-club football, with the two Soweto giants facing important matches in the second preliminary round of their respective competitions.

Pirates will take on African Stars in the CAF Champions League, while Chiefs face Zambian side Red Arrows. However, supporters of the two clubs will have different options when it comes to watching their teams in action.

The Buccaneers will be hoping to make progress in Africa after being eliminated at this stage of the competition last season. Pirates suffered disappointment against St. Eloi Lupopo and will be determined to avoid a similar outcome as they continue their continental campaign.

Abdeslam Ouaddou's side secured qualification for the second preliminary round after beating La Cure Waves 3-1 on aggregate. The result gave Pirates the opportunity to continue their journey in the CAF Champions League as they aim to compete against some of the continent's strongest teams.

Their opponents, African Stars, also had to work hard to reach this stage. The Namibian side progressed past Gabonese club Mangasport after their tie ended 3-3 on aggregate, with African Stars advancing on the away-goals rule.

Pirates will have an advantage in terms of the venue, as African Stars have had to move the match from Namibia to the Gaborone National Stadium in Botswana.

For South African supporters who want to follow the match, there is good news. The game will be broadcast live on SABC2, while those who prefer to watch online can stream it through the SABC Plus platform.

Meanwhile, Kaizer Chiefs will be looking to make a positive start to their CAF Confederation Cup campaign when they meet Red Arrows from Zambia.

Fernando Da Cruz's team received a bye in the first preliminary round and will now begin their campaign against the Zambian outfit. Red Arrows booked their place in the next round after defeating Inate Rouge 4-0 on aggregate.

However, Chiefs supporters face uncertainty over how they will be able to watch the match. According to the available information, the game is not expected to be broadcast on television or streamed in South Africa.

This will be disappointing news for Amakhosi fans who want to follow their team's progress in the competition, particularly as the club looks to make an impact on the continental stage.

Pirates supporters can therefore look forward to watching their team live on SABC2 or SABC Plus, while Chiefs fans may have to wait for further information about possible broadcast arrangements.

The situation could still change if a broadcaster confirms coverage of the Chiefs match. Any updates regarding television or streaming options would be important for supporters hoping to watch both Soweto giants in action.
