"Ouaddou Fired Mandla Ncikazi Because He Was Tired of Being Second-Guessed" Nadim Lukhele Hit Out

According to football commentator Nadim Lukhele, Orlando Pirates head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou reportedly decided to part ways with his assistant coach, Mandla Ncikazi, after becoming frustrated with what he allegedly considered repeated questioning of his decisions.

Lukhele's remarks have brought renewed attention to the circumstances surrounding Ncikazi's departure from the Orlando Pirates technical team, with suggestions that disagreements between the two coaches may have contributed to tensions behind the scenes.

According to the commentator, Ouaddou was unhappy with their working relationship, particularly because he allegedly felt that his authority and decisions were being constantly challenged. The reported disagreements are believed to have created an uncomfortable working environment within the technical department.

Ncikazi was an experienced member of the Pirates coaching structure, having spent several years at the Soweto-based club. His knowledge of South African football and familiarity with the team's environment made him an important figure in the technical department.

However, the arrival of a new head coach can sometimes change existing responsibilities and professional relationships. Different coaching philosophies, tactical preferences and approaches to decision-making can create disagreements, even among experienced members of the same technical team.

In professional football, assistant coaches are expected to contribute tactical ideas, participate in training preparations and offer recommendations. Nevertheless, the head coach generally has the final authority over team selection, match-day decisions and the overall direction of the squad.

If Lukhele's account is accurate, the alleged disagreement between Ouaddou and Ncikazi may have involved differences over authority and how decisions were handled within the coaching department.

For Ouaddou, maintaining control of the technical team would be important in implementing his preferred football philosophy and ensuring that his assistants share a common vision.

Nevertheless, Lukhele's claims should be treated as allegations rather than an officially established explanation for Ncikazi's departure. Orlando Pirates previously confirmed that Ncikazi wanted to pursue another head coaching opportunity.

The situation has nevertheless generated discussions among supporters about leadership, professional relationships and internal management at the club.

Pirates supporters will now be interested in seeing whether the changes within the technical department will help Ouaddou maintain stability and deliver the success expected at the Soweto giants.
