Exposed: The Real Reason Qobolwakhe Sibande FLEE Egypt After Just 9 Games Revealed by Top Agent

Sibande’s Egypt Exit Explained as Makaab Reveals Why He Chose Stellenbosch FC

Football agent Mike Makaab has shed light on Qobolwakhe Sibande’s return to South African football, explaining the circumstances surrounding the defender’s move from Egyptian Premier League side Petrojet SC to Stellenbosch FC.

Sibande returned to the Cape Winelands outfit on loan ahead of the 2026/27 campaign, just months after joining Petrojet in January 2026. His decision to return to familiar surroundings has attracted attention, particularly after he had taken the opportunity to test himself in North African football.

The left-back initially left Stellenbosch in July 2024 to join TS Galaxy, where he spent approximately a season and a half before securing his move to Egypt. His transfer to Petrojet represented another important step in his professional career as he sought to gain valuable experience outside South Africa.

However, his Egyptian adventure proved relatively short, with the defender making nine appearances for Petrojet during the 2025/26 season before returning to Stellenbosch.

A Return to Familiar Surroundings

Sibande’s return to Stellenbosch offers him an opportunity to continue his development in an environment where he previously enjoyed success.

The defender began his professional journey with the club after graduating from its DStv Diski Challenge programme. He made his senior debut in January 2023 and went on to record 42 appearances across all competitions during his first spell.

He was also part of the Stellenbosch squad that won the Carling Knockout Cup in the 2023/24 season, making his return a reunion with a club where he already understands the culture and expectations.

His versatility is another advantage, as he can operate at left-back and provide an option further forward on the left flank.

An Opportunity to Rebuild Momentum

For Stellenbosch, bringing Sibande back provides additional depth as the club prepares for the demands of the new campaign under head coach Gavin Hunt.

The Cape Winelands side has undergone significant changes to its squad, making experienced and versatile players particularly valuable.

Sibande’s previous experience with the club could help him settle quickly and compete for regular playing time. His loan move also gives him an opportunity to regain momentum after a brief spell in Egypt.

Speaking about his return, Sibande expressed excitement about rejoining the club where his professional career began. He also indicated that the experience gained during his time away could help him contribute to the team's ambitions.

Although his Egyptian spell did not last long, the move to Stellenbosch gives the 26-year-old another chance to establish himself in the Betway Premiership.

With his familiarity with the club and experience in different football environments, Sibande will hope to make a meaningful contribution as Stellenbosch looks to strengthen its squad and remain competitive during the 2026/27 season.
