No More Excuses — Reeve Frosler Drops Shoc-king Ultimatum After Double Trophy Disaster at Chiefs

Frosler Makes Bold Chiefs Declaration After Two Trophy Disappointments as Amakhosi Target Carling Knockout Glory

Kaizer Chiefs defender Reeve Frosler has made it clear that the Soweto giants are determined to fight for the Carling Knockout Cup after suffering disappointing setbacks in their pursuit of silverware this season.

The Amakhosi defender believes the competition presents an important opportunity for the club to turn its fortunes around and give supporters something to celebrate after their recent elimination from the CAF Confederation Cup.

Chiefs suffered a painful continental setback last Friday when they were eliminated by Zambian outfit Red Arrows following a penalty shootout at Moses Mabhida Stadium. Despite winning the second leg 1-0, the result left the tie level at 1-1 on aggregate before the Buccaneers' rivals fell short in the decisive shootout.

The disappointment came after Chiefs had already endured another setback in their pursuit of success this season, increasing the pressure on the team to make the most of their remaining opportunities.

However, Frosler insists the squad cannot afford to dwell on past disappointments, with the Carling Knockout offering an immediate chance to get back on track.

Speaking to the club's official website, the defender admitted that the Confederation Cup elimination was difficult to accept, particularly after the team had worked hard to overturn the first-leg deficit.

"It's disappointing falling out of the CAF competition. The guys did well to try and get back after the first leg in Zambia but it just wasn't meant to be," Frosler said.

"But now our full focus goes onto the Carling Cup."

Chiefs are scheduled to face TS Galaxy in the Carling Knockout Round of 16 at FNB Stadium on Tuesday, October 27. A victory would take Fernando Da Cruz's team into the quarter-finals and keep their hopes of winning domestic silverware alive.

Frosler acknowledged that the Rockets have proved difficult opponents in recent meetings but believes the unpredictable nature of knockout football gives Chiefs a genuine opportunity to progress.

"TS Galaxy have been a tough opponent for us in the last few games," he admitted.

"But it's a cup competition and cup games are always different. We'll look to put our best foot forward on Tuesday and try and go all the way in the Carling Cup."

The defender also stressed that winning a trophy remains one of the club's major ambitions, with the competition providing a valuable opportunity to achieve that objective.

Chiefs will need to demonstrate greater consistency and composure if they are to turn those ambitions into reality. Their recent struggles have raised questions about the team's ability to deliver results when the pressure is highest.

Meanwhile, the upcoming Soweto Derby against Orlando Pirates adds further significance to an important week for the club.

Despite the anticipation surrounding the derby, Frosler insists the immediate priority is overcoming TS Galaxy before attention shifts to their arch-rivals.

For Chiefs, the message is clear: another disappointing result could deepen the frustration among supporters, but a strong performance in the Carling Knockout would provide a much-needed boost.

After watching opportunities slip away, Amakhosi now have another chance to prove that their trophy ambitions remain firmly alive.
