TS Galaxy Official Breaks Down In Tears As Star Defender Defies Trauma To Return

Motaung Returns to Training After Terrifying Hijacking Ordeal in Johannesburg

TS Galaxy defender Lentswe Motaung has returned to the training pitch following a frightening hijacking incident in Johannesburg last weekend, providing an encouraging update for the Mpumalanga-based club and its supporters.

The 21-year-old right-back reportedly experienced the traumatic incident in Phola Park, Thokoza, during the early hours of Saturday, 10 October 2026. Reports indicate that he was hijacked at gunpoint, with the incident leaving him shaken and requiring medical attention.

The incident raised serious concerns about the young defender's well-being and availability for TS Galaxy's Betway Premiership commitments. His absence was subsequently felt when the Rockets faced Orlando Pirates, as the team prepared for an important league encounter.

According to reports, Motaung has since resumed training and is receiving support from the club as he works towards putting the difficult experience behind him.

The return to training represents a positive development for both the player and TS Galaxy, although his immediate readiness for competitive action will depend on his recovery and overall condition.

A club official reportedly confirmed that Motaung was receiving the necessary support following the incident, expressing relief that the defender had survived the ordeal.

The incident also highlighted the personal challenges footballers can face away from the pitch. While professional players are often judged by their performances and contributions to their teams, their safety and well-being remain equally important.

For Motaung, the immediate priority will be regaining his confidence and returning to full fitness. Recovering from a traumatic experience can take time, and the support of teammates, coaches and club management can play an important role in helping a player move forward.

Motaung has established himself as a promising young defender at TS Galaxy, earning opportunities in the first team through his performances and commitment. His return to training will therefore be welcomed as the club looks to strengthen its defensive options for the remainder of the campaign.

The Rockets recently suffered a 3-0 defeat against Orlando Pirates on 13 October, a result that added to the team's challenges in the league. They will now look to regroup and improve their performances as the season progresses.

TS Galaxy are also preparing for their Carling Knockout Round of 16 meeting against Kaizer Chiefs, which presents another important test for the squad.

However, Motaung's recovery remains more important than any immediate footballing consideration. His return to the training ground is an encouraging step after an unsettling experience, and supporters will hope to see him regain his confidence and continue developing his career.

Although questions remain about the recovery process and the missing vehicle, Motaung's return offers a welcome moment of relief for TS Galaxy and the wider South African football community.
