Down 2-0: Then Relebohile Mofokeng Produced THIS Miracle

Mofokeng Fires in Comeback Win as Union SG Fight Back to Thrash Cercle Brugge 5-2

Bafana Bafana forward Relebohile Mofokeng continued his impressive European adventure by scoring a crucial goal and providing an assist as Royale Union Saint-Gilloise produced a sensational comeback to defeat Cercle Brugge 5-2 in the Belgian Jupiler Pro League on Sunday, 25 October 2026.

The South African international played a key role in the dramatic victory, helping Union SG recover from a two-goal deficit to secure all three points at the Stade Joseph Marien.

The result strengthened Union SG's position in the Belgian top-flight title race, with the defending Belgian Super Cup champions moving into third place on the league table.

Cercle Brugge Take Control

Union SG endured a difficult opening period against a determined Cercle Brugge side.

The visitors took the lead in the 24th minute when Steve Ngoura converted a penalty after being fouled inside the penalty area.

The hosts struggled to find an equaliser before the interval, leaving them with plenty of work to do in the second half.

Cercle Brugge increased their advantage shortly after the restart when Massiré Sylla inadvertently turned the ball into his own net in the 48th minute, leaving Union SG trailing 2-0.

However, the home side responded almost immediately through Raul Florucz, who pulled a goal back to ignite hopes of a comeback.

Union SG Complete Remarkable Turnaround

Sylla redeemed himself in the 62nd minute by finding the net at the correct end to level the score at 2-2.

Union SG continued applying pressure, and their persistence paid off in the 74th minute when Emmanuel Kakou scored an own goal, handing the hosts their first lead of the encounter.

Mofokeng then delivered another important contribution in the 80th minute, scoring Union SG's fourth goal to give the home supporters further reason to celebrate.

The former Orlando Pirates star demonstrated his attacking quality and composure, underlining his growing influence in European football.

Kevin Rodriguez added a fifth goal in the 90th minute, with Mofokeng providing the assist to complete a memorable performance.

Mofokeng Boosts Union SG's Title Hopes

The victory moved Union SG to third place with 23 points from nine matches, leaving them two points behind league leaders Gent and one behind second-placed Club Brugge.

For Mofokeng, the performance represents another significant milestone in his development abroad.

His goal and assist will further strengthen his confidence as he continues to represent South African football on the European stage.

Union SG will now look to maintain their momentum as the Belgian title race intensifies, while Mofokeng will hope to continue delivering match-winning performances for club and country.
