Happy Mashiane Edges Closer to Siwelele FC Return as Club Confirms Interest

Former Kaizer Chiefs defender Happy Mashiane could be handed another opportunity to revive his football career, with Siwelele FC working towards securing his services ahead of the ongoing 2026/27 Betway Premiership campaign.

According to recent reports by SABC Sport on Thursday, October 15, 2026, Siwelele are interested in bringing the left-back back to the club after he impressed during his assessment period. However, some administrative matters must still be resolved before an agreement can be finalised.

Mashiane has been without a club since June 2026, when he and Kaizer Chiefs mutually agreed to terminate his contract. His departure brought an end to a lengthy association with the Soweto giants, where he had spent several years developing his career.

The 29-year-old joined the Chiefs development structures as a teenager before earning promotion to the senior team in 2019. During his time at Naturena, he gained valuable experience in domestic football and was part of the squad that reached the CAF Champions League final in 2021.

Despite showing promise during his early years, Mashiane struggled to establish himself as a regular member of the starting lineup in his final seasons with the club. His limited playing time eventually led to a loan move to Siwelele FC during the 2025/26 campaign.

However, his previous spell with the Bloemfontein-based outfit did not provide the regular opportunities he had hoped for, as he made only one appearance before returning to Chiefs.

Following his departure from Naturena, Mashiane reportedly underwent an assessment at Stellenbosch FC under coach Gavin Hunt. The club ultimately decided against signing him after raising concerns about his fitness.

His latest opportunity at Siwelele could now offer a fresh start.

Siwelele Coach Provides Update

Siwelele interim coach Godfrey Mosoetsa has confirmed that Mashiane has been training with the team and has impressed the technical staff.

Speaking about the possible signing, Mosoetsa explained that the player had been performing well during training, although some outstanding administrative issues still needed attention.

The coach also highlighted Mashiane's experience in the Premier Soccer League, suggesting that he could make a valuable contribution to the squad.

Siwelele are looking to strengthen their options on the left side following the departure of Neo Rapoo, who joined Orlando Pirates during the recent transfer window.

Mashiane's experience could therefore prove useful as the club seeks to improve its performances in the league.

For the former Chiefs defender, securing a contract would represent an important opportunity to return to competitive football and demonstrate that he still has something to offer at the highest domestic level.

However, the move has not yet been officially completed, and the remaining administrative matters must be resolved before Siwelele can confirm his signing.

If an agreement is reached, Mashiane will have another chance to rebuild his career in familiar surroundings.
