Kaizer Chiefs Break Silence on Manqoba Mngqithi Rumours After His Young Africans Exit

Kaizer Chiefs have dismissed speculation linking the club with former Young Africans coach Manqoba Mngqithi following his unexpected departure from the Tanzanian football giants.

The rumours emerged after Mngqithi became unattached, prompting discussions about whether the experienced South African tactician could return to the Premier Soccer League through a potential appointment at Naturena.

However, Chiefs have firmly denied any plans to bring the former Mamelodi Sundowns coach to the club. Sporting director Kaizer Motaung Jr. responded directly to the reports, describing the claims as “Completely lies,” making it clear that the club does not consider the speculation accurate.

The clarification comes at a time when Chiefs are attempting to establish stability under their current technical leadership. The Soweto giants recently expressed their support for Fernando Da Cruz despite their elimination from the CAF Confederation Cup, indicating that the club remains committed to its existing plans.

Mngqithi's name has continued to attract attention because of his experience in South African football. During his time at Mamelodi Sundowns, he was involved in building a competitive side that achieved considerable success in domestic competitions. His tactical knowledge and familiarity with the local football environment make him an interesting figure whenever coaching vacancies become a subject of discussion.

Interestingly, Mngqithi previously suggested that his move to Kaizer Chiefs had been prevented by someone. The revelation added another dimension to the ongoing speculation surrounding his relationship with the club and raised questions about whether circumstances could eventually change.

Nevertheless, there is currently no confirmed indication that Chiefs intend to appoint him following his departure from Young Africans. The club's latest response suggests that reports connecting the coach with a move to Naturena should be treated cautiously.

For Mngqithi, the immediate future remains uncertain as he considers his next career opportunity after his spell in Tanzania. His next destination will likely attract considerable interest, particularly among supporters who believe his experience could benefit a team seeking greater consistency.

For now, Kaizer Chiefs appear focused on supporting Da Cruz and continuing their plans rather than making an unexpected coaching change. Unless further developments emerge, the possibility of Mngqithi joining the Soweto club remains speculation rather than a confirmed transfer.
