Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies have discovered their opponents for the 2026 CAF Women’s Champions League following the official group-stage draw conducted in Cairo, Egypt, on Tuesday.
The South African champions have been placed in Group A alongside Egyptian outfit FC Masar, Cameroon’s Lekie Football Girls and Moroccan side FUS Rabat.
The draw gives Sundowns Ladies an opportunity to reclaim their place among Africa’s top women’s football teams after missing out on qualification for the previous edition of the continental competition.
Their campaign will get underway on 1 November, when they face hosts FC Masar in what promises to be an important opening encounter. Playing on home soil could give the Egyptian representatives an advantage, as they will have the backing of their supporters.
The South African side will play their second group-stage match on 4 November against Lekie Football Girls. The Cameroonian club will be making its debut in the tournament, presenting Sundowns Ladies with an opponent they may know relatively little about.
Sundowns Ladies will conclude their Group A fixtures on 7 November against Morocco’s FUS Rabat. The encounter could play a crucial role in determining which teams progress to the knockout stage, depending on the results of their earlier matches.
Meanwhile, Group B features defending champions ASFAR of Morocco, Mali’s USFAS Bamako and Uganda’s Kawempe Muslim Ladies.
Kawempe Muslim Ladies will also be participating in the competition for the first time. The final place in Group B will be determined by the outcome of the WAFU B qualifying contest between Ampem Darkoa and Edo Queens.
The sixth edition of the CAF Women’s Champions League is scheduled to take place in Egypt from 1 to 15 November 2026.
The tournament will bring together some of the continent’s strongest women’s football clubs, all competing for the prestigious African title.
For Sundowns Ladies, the group-stage draw has outlined the challenge ahead as they prepare to compete against opponents from different footballing backgrounds.
With the opening match approaching, the South African champions will be looking to make a strong start, secure valuable points in the group stage and build momentum towards a potential run in the knockout rounds.
