Simba SC captain Rushine De Reuck has made it clear that he has not abandoned his ambition of returning to the Bafana Bafana squad after rediscovering his form in Tanzania.
The former Mamelodi Sundowns defender believes he still has the quality and ability to represent South Africa at international level, insisting that injuries rather than poor performances were responsible for his previous absence from the national team.
De Reuck has been working to rebuild his career at Simba SC, where he continues to demonstrate his experience and leadership qualities. Despite having already represented Bafana Bafana in the past, the defender remains determined to earn another opportunity to wear the national team jersey.
Speaking about his international ambitions, De Reuck explained that he believes his journey with Bafana Bafana is not yet complete.
“I still feel like I have unfinished business with the national team. I didn’t stop playing for Bafana because of bad performances; it was because of injuries, you know, those types of things,” De Reuck said, as quoted by iDiski Times.
The Simba SC captain also emphasised that representing his country again remains a major personal ambition.
“100%, it’s a dream. Although I have played for Bafana before, I still feel like I’ve got the capacity to play,” he added.
His comments highlight his determination to return to the international stage and prove that he still has plenty to offer South African football.
De Reuck previously featured for Mamelodi Sundowns before continuing his career outside South Africa. His experience in the domestic game, combined with his current responsibilities as Simba SC captain, could strengthen his case for consideration by the national team's technical staff.
However, securing another Bafana Bafana call-up will depend on several factors, including his consistency, fitness and the selectors' assessment of the available defensive options.
For now, the experienced defender remains focused on maintaining his performances in Tanzania while keeping his international ambitions alive.
De Reuck's message is clear: he believes his Bafana Bafana story is not over, and he is determined to earn another chance to represent South Africa.
