Former Kaizer Chiefs and Bafana Bafana midfielder Reneilwe Letsholonyane has continued his solid start as head coach of Mochudi Centre Chiefs. The Botswana Premier League side recorded consecutive 2-1 victories, first against Township Rollers and then against Enesia. After six matches, the club sits in fourth place.
Letsholonyane, widely known as Yeye, took charge of Mochudi Centre Chiefs in late September. The club, also called Magosi, turned to the South African after parting ways with their previous coach. Yeye arrived with recent experience in the Botswana top flight, having coached Matebele FC the previous season and helped them stay up. He also spent a short spell as assistant coach at FC Platinum in Zimbabwe before the opportunity at Mochudi came up.
The first of the back-to-back wins came against Township Rollers. Mochudi Centre Chiefs fought back to claim a 2-1 victory in a competitive match. Goals from Gilbert Baruti and Mpho Kgaswane proved decisive after the visitors had taken the lead. The result lifted spirits around the team and moved them up the table.
A week later, Yeye’s men travelled to face Enesia and secured another 2-1 win. The victory confirmed their improved form and gave the coach his second successive success in charge. With six games played, Mochudi Centre Chiefs now occupy fourth spot in the Botswana Premier League standings. The position reflects a steady recovery after an opening loss under the new coach.
Yeye has spoken about wanting to bring stability and confidence back to the side while playing football that the supporters can enjoy. He has drawn on lessons from his time at Matebele, where he worked with limited resources and still delivered positive results. At Mochudi Centre Chiefs, the ambitions are higher. The club has a strong history in Botswana football and wants to challenge near the top again after several seasons without major success.
The back-to-back wins give the players belief and show that the early work on the training ground is starting to pay off. Yeye remains realistic. He has stressed that the team is still building and that consistency will be the real test over the coming weeks.
Attention now turns to the next fixture against Jwaneng Galaxy. A strong result there would further strengthen Mochudi Centre Chiefs’ position in the top half of the table. For Yeye, the early signs are encouraging as he continues his coaching journey away from South African football. The former Amakhosi star has quickly made an impact in Botswana, and these recent victories suggest the club is moving in the right direction under his guidance.
