How Man City's Embarrassing 3-1 Defeat Handed Man Utd A Premier League Nightmare

SHOCKING: Manchester United Drop Into Premier League Relegation Zone After Man City's Defeat

Manchester United have dropped into the Premier League relegation zone following Nottingham Forest's impressive 3-1 victory over Manchester City at the City Ground on Saturday night.

The unexpected result has further complicated United's difficult start to the 2026/27 campaign, with Michael Carrick's side now sitting 18th on the Premier League table and facing increasing pressure to turn their season around.

Nottingham Forest's victory proved significant not only for their own survival ambitions but also for Manchester United, who have slipped into the bottom three without playing on Saturday.

Forest produced an impressive performance against Manchester City, securing three valuable points through goals from Jair Cunha and Liam Delap, who scored twice.

Rayan Cherki briefly gave Manchester City hope after pulling a goal back early in the second half. However, Delap restored Forest's two-goal advantage with a powerful finish in the 73rd minute to complete a memorable victory.

The result lifted Forest to 16th position with nine points from 10 matches, while Manchester United dropped to 18th with just seven points from nine league fixtures.

United's worrying league position reflects their disappointing performances during the opening stages of the season. The Red Devils have managed only one victory, alongside four draws and four defeats.

Their recent run of seven consecutive Premier League matches without a win has intensified concerns among supporters, with questions continuing to emerge about the team's performances and Carrick's ability to guide the club out of its current difficulties.

The situation is particularly concerning considering Manchester United's reputation and expectations as one of England's biggest football clubs.

Attention will now turn to Sunday's Premier League encounter against Aston Villa at Old Trafford, where United have an opportunity to escape the relegation zone and restore some confidence.

A victory would be extremely important for Carrick and his players, particularly with pressure mounting following their disappointing domestic results.

Manchester United's last relegation from the English top flight came in 1974, making their current position an uncomfortable reminder of a period the club's supporters would rather forget.

Although there is still plenty of football to be played this season, United cannot afford to continue dropping points.

For now, Nottingham Forest's triumph over Manchester City has delivered an unexpected twist in the Premier League standings, leaving Manchester United among the bottom three and desperately needing a positive response.
